About Tiger Bay Ramblers

P4231853Tiger Bay Ramblers (TBR) is a Cardiff-based walking group and part of The Ramblers charity. It was created in 2001 as part of a national drive to encourage younger people to join The Ramblers, complimenting the existing Cardiff Ramblers group. Whilst it was created as a 20's and 30's group (also known as a Hike group), its members have since grown older and many have chosen to remain with the group, leading to it being rebranded as a group for people of working age.  In practice this means that members' ages range from late teens through to sixty plus, although the majority are in their thirties and forties.  There's also a small (but growing) Tiger Cubs element for members with babies and young children who want baby and child friendly walks.

P6106844The group has a variety of walks, social events, weekends away and holidays on its programme.  These events are organised by its members.  There is normally at least one walk on each week and frequently more than that.  Sunday is the most common day for walks, but there are walks on Saturdays and (during the summer) weekday evenings too.  It is not unknown to have two or three different walks on the same day and members are encouraged to provide a wide variety of walks.  The walks vary from short walks around the local park through to twenty plus miles in the Brecon Beacons or the Black Mountains.

PB274984Whilst the walks programme is generally public, social events, weekends away and holidays are generally restricted to members.  If you'd like an idea of the type of weekends away and holidays that the group runs, take a look at the Past Holidays And Weekends Away page. There's also Curry Club on the first Thursday of each month, and the summer BBQ, where prospective members can come and get to know the group.

The group is run by a voluntary committee of members who are elected annually. They are responsible for the running of the group and its policies. If you have any questions or want to know more about the group, please contact the committee using the online form or the email addresses on the Committee page.
