Tiger Bay Ramblers (TBR) is a walking group for people of working age. It is based in Cardiff but walks across South Wales and beyond. Its members organise a range of walks to suit all abilities, as well as social events, weekends away and holidays.
See our full walks programme for more information about these and other walks.
Eglwysilan Common from Parc Penallta
Meet at the main carpark accessed by the entrance at the top of the hill. Please note there is a £3 charge for parking here. Free parking may be available further back along the access road by the education centre but this is limited and users of the centre have priority. If you do park there please walk along the road until you come to the main carpark where I will be waiting.
From the carpark we will visit the earth sculpture of Sultan the pit pony before continuing the walk
Following an initial descent through the park we will climb steeply to Eglwysilan common. Where there can be excellent views and almost certainly will be mud.
After circling the common we descend and come to the Llanfabon Inn before returning to Parc Penallta via fields and a cycle route/disused railway.
As a way of helping keep this area attractive for future areas I'd like to ask everyone attending to pick up just three pieces of rubbish along the way, sadly there is plenty.
